Poem: The Muse

the muse

I want to wrap you in art

Let the canvas wrinkle and crinkle around the curves of your body

Becoming exactly who you are

Create your beauty the way I see

The shapes that make up your ideas, realized into a frame

I want to wrap you in art

I want to keep you on a pedestal though I know you’ll jump down

Letting the paint drip off your body as you walk through powerlines and dynasties

Becoming exactly who you are

The way you draw air

The pages of sketches littering the walls and mirrors and doors tight

I want to wrap you in art

And lines of useless poems

Where my metaphors fight to touch your complexity

Becoming exactly who you are

There is love

Then there is an obsession for a soul. Depth of a portrait

I want to wrap you in art

Becoming exactly who you are
